Bloodwood (Brosimum rubescens, B. paraense)
Occurrence: tropical South America, Other names: satine, Tree size: height 25 - 45 m, trunk diameter 1.2 - 2.1 m, Density of dry wood: 1050 kg/m3, Janka hardness: 12 900 N
White wood is white to light yellow. The heartwood is red, the fibers are straight or slightly wavy, the texture is medium to coarse, with a natural sheen. The wood is very hard and resistant to rot and wood-destroying insects. It is more difficult to machine, it is used for the production of furniture, musical instruments, tool handles turning.
