Wenge (Millettia lautrentii)
Occurrence: Central Africa, Other names: dikela, mibotu, bokonge, awong, Tree size: height 18 - 30 m, trunk diameter 1 - 1.4 m, Density of dry wood: 880 kg/m3, Janka hardness: 8 600 N
The core wood is black-brown with almost black stripes, the white wood is white to yellowish. The fibers are straight with a rough structure and a natural shine. The wood is hard, very resistant to fungi, mold and wood-destroying insects. Wood is more difficult to process, it is used for the production of furniture, decorative items, turning.
